International Dog Show „Baltic Winner 2010” in Riga, October 30-31
For two days the Skonto Hall hosted the
biggest dog show of late years, which had gathered as many as 2563 participants. There had been
submitted 23 dog show entries of English Cocker Spaniels. Several of those did
not show up, but the competition was fair and strong anyway. The ring was
judged by a very strict judge - Luis
Manuel Calado CATALAN from Portugal.
Fibis in Champion Class was evaluated as „excellent”, awarded CQ, and 3rd place in the class. In the comparision – the fourth best male.
But the little daughter BELLA DIVA MY DREAM came as the best in the Junior Class and won the title „BALTIC JUNIOR WINNER 2010”!!!!
Congratulations to Lote’s owners on her outstanding achievement!

24.IV 2010 GOLDEN LEONBERGER SHOW
For the first time ever, Latvia hosted such a
big number of participants – 43! – from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia,
Lithuania, Russia and Latvia.
The venue of the dog show this time was at a wonderful guest-house called „Dubultmuiža”.
A very zealous judgement in the show ring was given by Peter Cejnek, Austria.
Larsens was awarded the mark of „very good” and was given a detailed positive description.
I would like to say thank-you to all the organizers and the participants for the sincere feelings I enjoyed at the largest specialized Leonberger Dog Show of Latvia!
18.IV 2010 International Dog Show „The Cup of Ukraine”
On the next day Fibis
took part in the champions’ class, winning the CAC class, CACIB and once again becoming the best
representative of the breed with the BOB. Fibis ranked the 4th at the final
show.
With this, we also completedf all the procedures and received the certificates of the Champion of Ukraine and the Grand Champion of Ukraine.
A most sincere thank-you to the judge Maria Cecarelli from Italy for the high scores of evaluation in the show ring and BIG-II !
This trip will always be remembered with nice memories of a wonderful company and new friends we made in the Ukraine and Belarus.
17.IV 2010 International Dog Show „Zolotiye Vorota” (Golden Gate) in Kiev, the capital city of the Ukraine.
After a very long
31-hour journey (1230km) with complicated border-crossing procedures, but in an
optimistic company of people we finally reached Kiev late in the night of April
16.
In the morning, we up early and getting ready for the show at the exhibition centre. We were really amazed by the high organizing level at the dog show!
In the show ring we were welcomed by a a smile from a very experienced and knowing judge – Maria Decaristou from Greece.
It turned out that on this visit were accompanied by luck, as we received not only the desired CAC, but also CACIB and BOB titles. Also, in the final show Fibis climbed to the 2nd position!
On April 3, 2010, the Spaniel Club of Latvia held a FCI Group VIII Dog Show.
The expert opinion was
delivered by one of
the most popular judges in Italy, a long standing spaniel breeder, the
vice-president of the Spaniel Club of Italy, MARIA CECCARELLI.
Fibis performed in the working class by winning the evaluation – excellent, CQ quality certificate and a very praising description of the exterior. In the comparison ring, Fibis ranked the second best dog.
I would like to extend my thank-you to the judge for the high marks, to the organizers for the cosy atmosphere and to my friends – for being a nice company!
The dog shows organized by the Spaniel Club have always been like a festive family gathering.

At the 17 October in the National show in Valmiera Fibi got BOB and BIG II under expert Gerda Halff-van Boven (Netherland).
September 5th – the day of the National Dog Show in Ventspils!
This dog show has always been something special, as we usually devote more time to preparing the event, while our own doggies patiently are waiting for their turn...
However, by the time the rings started, all necessary arrangements were completed, and from that moment onwards, it was just the matter of good luck and success.
Twenty English Cocker Spaniels were registered for the dog show. The judge of the Cocker ring was Erwin Deutscher, an expert from Austria. In a tough competition, Fibis won the breed and was nominated for the final show. FCI Group 8 was judged by Erwin Deutscher. Despite of the rain at the time, Fibis performed well at movements, and as a result, won the 1st prize in the group! This means that the dog had to perform once again among the top 10. This time the judge of the ring was Rony Doedijns from Holland. All dogs were examined very carefully. As a result, Fibis was the 5th! My congratulations to all the prize-winners and a most sincere THANK YOU to everyone who helped us!
Larsens took part in the open class contest. The expert Nijole Zieniene (LT) evaluated him with “very good”. “Thank you” to the handler Kolya for his help in putting the dog on the show!
Lukass this time could be seen on the front cover of the dog show catalogue, but the dog himself was enjoying his rest time at home.
The little Belladiva My Dream met her real masters and was happy to be taken to her future home. Little Lotte, I congratulate you with joining a family of loving masters right here, in Ventspils!

This was a special day to us, because after the show Larsens breeders from Finland visit to us at home. There are 7 peoples and 12 dogs together. Had arrived Larsens brother Lahire and mother Evira. Particular success has proved mumms next show day: she won the CAC,CACIB, BOB and closed INT CH tittle. Congratulations to dogs breeders with success!

On June 1 „Mill” gave birth to 5 wonderful puppies - 2 boys and 3 girls. 4 puppies are orange/roan, as mother, but 1 girl is blue/roan , as dad Fibi. Puppies are strong and healthy, and new mother feel great.

Ventspils DzAB annual report at the meeting Lukas received the title of "Golden Fund". It granted the dogs over the age of 10 years, successfully started at shows and breeding.

On December 14, the Specialized FCI Group 8 and Spaniel Club’s 30th Anniversary Show was held in Riga.
The judge was Stelios Makaritis from Greece.
That was a really great day for Cockers, held in a welcoming and festive atmosphere. 25 English Cocker Spaniels were entered at the show.
Fibis won the Working Class, by obtaining an excellent evaluation, CQ, and the title of the second best dog.
But when Lukass went onto the ring, everyone could see that the expert was absolutely amazed by the dog’s actual age (the number of years!) and his fantastic condition! After being adjudged the PP title, the most outstanding description and lots of compliments, Lukass went on to the comparision with others and became the best of breed of this show!!! On the Concluding Show Lukass was the only veteran. Nevertheless, he ranked the 4th in Group 8!
This was also the 100th jubilee and the final show for Lucas!
With great joy and pride Lukass passed on the baton of dog-show success to his great-grandchildren who had come for their first show in Puppy Class!
I’d like to say a special thank-you to Solveiga, the owner of Lukass’ daughter Emija, because Lukass’ blood continues in 11 grandchildren! And even a more sincere thank-you goes to Kristīne and Ingūna for the granddaughter Ultra’s success and 7 most fantastic great-grandchildren!!!
I’d also like to thank Sintija and Jānis, the owners of Lebro and Gabriel, as well as Daiga and Jurijs Dollīte and Hellas owners for their wonderful company and the love for cockers!

The Liepaja Regional Show has already become a good tradition. We go there to have fun all together and to round up the dog show season.
Larsens was really happy to be in the company of the big dogs and kept inviting others to play with him. Actually, the show was a
serious trial because at most times it meant to be pushing through the crowds of people and dogs.
In the show ring, Larsens received the mark "very good" and was pleased with his performance. He was judged by an
experienced expert from Russia Galina Zaharova.
Fibis enrolled for the champion class and was judged as "excellent", so he was awarded the CQ certificate. In the
comparison ring, Fibis won the 2nd prize. The expert was Beata Petkevica from Latvia.
Our sincere thanks to everyone for the nice company!

On November 12, Nord, a German shepherd dog, went back home – to Ventspils. The dog, most likely, had been frightened by the noise of a
number of explosions near the city of Ventspils. It was reported later that the noise came from neutralization of wartime shells found
in the vicinity.
Luckily, the announcement on Kurzemes Radio about a dog that had strayed in to our home reached his owner. It turned out that as a puppy
the dog had been brought up and trained by K.Zurkevics, a cynologist, whose dogs were the predecessors of our first female dog Teika.
Thus, the lost and found dog turned out to be a distant relative.
All’s well that ends well!

The great event of the year – the dog show organized by Ventspils Club – is over! Fibis and Larsens also were on the show. Fibis received a Quality Certificate and was rated the best dog, BOO, in his breed. Many thanks to Monika Blaha, the judge from Austria, for her good words and friendly attitude to our Cockers. The title of the Best of the Breed was won by Izette, Lukass’ granddaughter. Congratulations to her owner, Solveiga!!!
Larsens received a rating of „very good” from Seamus Oates, a judge from Ireland. He says Larsens needs time to build up his shape. I’d like to say „Thank You” to Inese, who put Larsens on show, because the Cocker and Leonberger rings were going on at the same time!

On 30 July 2008, Ultra, Lukas’s granddaughter and Fibi’s daughter, gave birth to 7 puppies: 3 boys and 4 girls.
Our congratulations to the happy mum! We truly hope that the puppies will find their homes with active and loving new owners!
